About the role

Engineers are the engine room of Measurelab, using their expertise in data collection, transformation, automation and cloud technologies to solve complex client problems. Their work contributes to clean, comprehensive, and trusted marketing data, which adds significant value to our clients. The Engineering team works in fortnightly agile sprints and liaises closely with the consulting and analysis teams to deliver impactful, timely work. Measurelab seeks to evolve continually, so as well as client work, Engineers also explore and refine internal processes and help build new tools to make our offering even more compelling.

Responsibilities

  • Partner closely with stakeholders and team members to identify and meet requirements to deliver engineering solutions across multiple clients.

  • Responsible for working in and helping to improve evolving sprint process, ensuring the timely delivery of tickets

  • Helping to grow further our GCP offering by lending experience and or willingness to explore and learn

  • Maintain consistency in the delivery of technical implementations and analysis – beating the drum of an ongoing approach to delivery

Location

Even though our HQ is in the SE of England (just outside Brighton), since the pandemic, we are now a distributed team - working all over the UK. We expect to continue to work in a distributed way but will want to see each other from time to time IRL too!As well as our HQ, we use co-working spaces in London (Soho, Farringdon, London Bridge, Camden) and Manchester. 

Being a remote-first company now, we don’t mandate any time in the office, but if you live locally or want to get some in-person time with the team, it’s there for you to use. Additionally, we expect the team to get together over a weekend once a year for our annual company kick-off.

Job requirements

Skills

Must-have

  • Ability to work in sprints and meet specified deadlines

  • A passion for data and the confidence to impart the technical & business implications of the services we can bring

  • Working knowledge of Google Tag Manager (GTM), including
    • Debugging GTM tagging (Either via dataLayer, GTM Debugger, or JavaScript)

    • Setting up eCommerce tracking

    • Implementing cookie solutions (e.g. OneTrust)

    • Adhering to GTM best practices (naming conventions, workspaces, clear descriptions)

  • Familiarity with pipelining tools like Fivetran, Skyvia or Funnel

  • A flair for good documentation practices & the ability to think calmly and logically in demanding situations

  • A desire to grow and explore knowledge within the space of cloud analytics. Particularly Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  • An ability to think of new approaches to existing problems


Nice-to-have

  • Experience working within agile sprint framework

  • Experience working with server-side GTM

  • Experience working with app analytics

  • An understanding of the concept of ‘consent mode’ and how it can be implemented

  • An understanding of the tools and services offered within the GCP, specifically those that pertain to analysis, ETL pipelines, and automation

  • Experience using python to manipulate data. Familiarity with libraries like pandas

  • Experience working with APIs

  • Experience with SQL (including automation, versioning and testing platforms like dbt/dataform)

  • An understanding of GTM tag templates and sandboxed Javascript
